I'm setting up a cure tank 38 gal I'm tired of trying to fight ick without copper rubby reef quick qure etc none of them work I have tried all of them I took my fish out into another tank and add copper ick is gone in 3 days. My main tank has 200lbs of live rock snails stars crabs copper will kill it so far no ick has came back I'm going to be ready If It does this time.
So far on my cure tank I have a emp 400 2 bio wheels ,salt is 1.021,temp is 78 deg I was going to add crushed coarl but I was told not to because it would absorb the copper & other medications do I need a skimmer or a uv light and should I add black coal to the filter etc etc thanks Jason Carter

Did you look at the FAQ thread posted at the top of this forum? There's a lot of detail there on how to set up a quarantine tank.
I would add a couple of cups of sand from your main tank into your QT. Take a good look at the sand first and pick out any little critters you catch and return them to your display.
Also, I would just do hyposalinity for your ich problem. It is the best choice. If you're interested, there is also info about the procedure in the FAQ Thread.
I'm glad that you posted this testimonial against the so-called REEF SAFE meds. You're right, they don't work and the effects of it on you tank and inverts is "unknown" at best, and detrimential in the worse case scenario.
