I went to my LFS after work to pick up some goods. I seen some nice fuji live rock in the tank, I asked the kid If the rock was cured he said no, the rock has only been in the tank for two weeks. I asked how long it will take to cure, he stated depends on the size of the rocks............ and walked away. Could someone give me a real answer?!?! I can get with the size of the rock issue but he can at least answer the question. Most of the rock is about six to eight inches long, Can't weigh more than four or five pounds. Can someone give me a real answer?

I cured about 45# of LR in my Q-Tank. It took about 2 weeks. You need to check for an ammonnia spike and shortly after that, a nitrite spike. Once the two read zero, your rock has cured (experienced all the die off). Also, you can tell if it is cured or not by the smell.

I did not but the rock because i did not know if it wat cured. I have fish in my tank right now and would rather have the rock already cured. Was just wondering the time frame in which it would cure.

???
never do hypo on rock, it will kill more, and this is the idea of curing, to rid it of die off
curing varies alot, by the size of the rock, and if ther is any lr in the system, and what the ratio is, it can take days or weeks(even a month or more), i really wish tehre was an exact answer to give, but theer isn't
sorry
