Curing LR

Ok, last night I bought a 10lb piece of LR. I currently have it in my 10 gal tank with a heater and a powerhead. I bought it from my local lfs. The lr was probably out of the water for 30 minutes or so, covered with wet newspaper.
When I checked the ammonia this morning, it was more green than yellow (somehow I misplaced the color chart that goes with the test kit). Being more green than yellow, I am assuming the rock is begining a cycle. Any thoughts here?
Also, is my set up good for cycling this rock?

Yes you are probably having some die off. The ammonia should drop rapidly if the rock is cured. 30 min is nothing if the was precured.
