Curing rock thats already cured??

I ordered some "uncured" rock off th internet and have been cycling it for about 2 weeks, i have checked the levels and the water is at o ammonia, and less < 5 nitrates,... is this rock already cured?? i have seen no rise in ammonia ever and i am confused, thanks for the help,..

Regardless if it was cured or uncured and you had it shipped THERE WILL be a noticeable amount of ammonia. Maybe your tests kit is bad. Take a sample of that water to a LFS and have them check it or have another reefer check it with their kit. IMO you should have seen a nice big spike. Barry

I would try ghost feeding it to see if you get an ammonia spike. Basically feed small amounts of food as you would if you had fish.

Sometimes the tank can cycle and you miss the ammonia spike. If the nitrates continue to rise then it's cycled. Are you testing for nitrites also?

Agreed. If your system is producing nitrates the cycle is probably complete.

Did you only test this one time, after two weeks? You might have missed it, because you should have seen a spike. Pick up the rock and give it a good sniff, is the smell bad or good? Do you have a skimmer? My skimmer pulled a LOT of junk out while my lr was curring, and then when it was done curring the skimmer showed hardly anything.

LOL, i got "cured" live rock and i used this to cycle my set up righ tnow. my amm. is 8.0 last night and getting it down is a bare. ive been able to get it down to 5.0 but need to get lower.
