I want to add a overflow box to my acrylic tank and I will need to cut the top to make room, has anyone done this before and is it safe? If so how would you go about doing it? Thanks for the info in advance.

I have drilled a small acrylic tank (40 gal for refuguim) and you can use a normal hole saw. Nothing special required. For cutting a square hole in the top you could use a sawz-all type tool. Then finish it off by sanding. The only thing I might be concerned is the overall strength of the top since that is used for structural support. Might be able to call the company that made it and ask if it would be a problem. Good Luck
