i am going to make a sump tank for my 55gal tank out of a old 20 high tank and some plexi glass. what is the best way to cut the plexi glass to get a nice clean edge? also what should i use to glue the plexi glass to the glass tank and what should i use to glue the plexi glass to it self? please give me some advice!

The only way that I know how to get a clean cut edge on plexi glass is to use a milling maching to machine your pieces square and giving you a true edge. You might want to check with a local glass company they probably have a quicker & more logical way to cut it since everyone may not have access to a machine shop.I would say that you would have to have very square edges to get any type of glue to hold a water tight seal,im not real sure about that process, some type of silicone may work?

I cut mine with a table saw and a 80 tooth carbide blade. Gets it pretty smooth, but then I sand it with 220 grit sand paper. Use Weld-On 3 or 16 to glue acrylic to acrylic and silicone for acrylic to glass.

well i usually a CNC milling machine or a Bridgeport, but just redid a sump that i had to make smaller ( it didn't fit under base ) and i used a router with a 1/2" bit worked very well for me nice clean edges also used the loctite 416 to glue them together with some clamps to hold it tight while drying
