Hi i need help on some information on cuttlefish. Went to LFS today and they are selling a Sepia Kobiensis for $45. I need help finding out how big these get and any other information i can get on them. I have a 55 gallon reef tank. Thanks for your help.

They are short lived, like octo's, need very good water quality and will eat everything in your tank. This is all second hand info I remember from when I wanted to buy one.

you can't put anything in with them except other cuttle's. i think they get pretty big too. around the foot to 15inches. they'll eat pretty much anything just like an octopus, they only live for about 2 years. they have pretty much the same requirements as an octopus. they are very closely related. i've never seen them in a pet store though, only aquariums. when i saw them there they had a bunch of them in together, but they were only 5-8 inches long. they're probably very delicate to have.

How do you know that it is a Sepia kobiensis ?
If you buy it now it will die very soon (most cephalapod specimens are full grown when you get them, and therefore have a very short time left
)
If you really want to buy a cuttlefish I would suggest you read up on Sepia bandensis
, because that is the most commonly imported tropical cuttlefish in the US. If you know where to look you can even find CB ones.
