Cyanobacteria and toxins that come out of it.

I've had cyanobacteria since Feb. and I heard Maracyn I can get rid of it and it has similar ingredients that are in red slime remover just stronger. So, I did the maracyn 1 for 5 days-because its an antibiotic and it did get rid of the cyano. but all my fish are starting to get white patches all over them and my emperor angel died yesterday!! All my levels are fine so it has to be that there are so many toxins in the water from the cyano. that the water is like poison. I'm doing a big water change and i have a polyfilter in the sump now that after one day is already dark brown!!!! Just thought I'd let others know of this potential problem.

Just a little thing to note.
When using an antibiotic in the tank you need to be very careful because it will kill the benificial bacteria as well.

Just a lil note and maybe a question or 2....comments welcome......
I'm having a lil bit of a cyano problem in my 55 reef..nothing major but hopefully it won't continue to get worse...
I'm in the process of setting up a 30 gal gravity return refugium when this system establishes and has macro algae in it....will this help prevent as well as controll cyano and other algaes in the main tank
If I understand the function of a refugium correctly a established refugium will help in this way.....or at least thats one of the reasons I'm adding one to my reef.......tell me this is true
