Cycle Question.

I bought 90lbs of LR from my friend across the alley from me. It was kept in a tub of saltwater for about 4-5 months in his basement. I also bought some live sand. I have my 75 gl set up now. With the lr and ls in there. Now my question is, can I go ahead and transfer my other tank (fowlr) over into the new one and not have to worry about a cycle?

How was the rock maintained? Was there a heater and powerheads in the tub for the 4-5 months?

There was a powerhead, but not a heater,

I wouldn't consider it cured rock, then.

If it is goin to cycle, when should I see my ammonia spike?

Have you tested the water the rock was in? Try the sniff test as well, smell a piece of the rock. If it smells fowl, it definitely needs to be cured.
Where is the rock now?

The rock is already in my new tank. The rock smelled fine.

I'd fill up the tank and ghost feed a few days. Keep a close eye on the levels. If ammonia stays 0 but your trates go up your fine. If amm. goes up then let it cycle.

I'd definitely test for a couple of weeks while ghost feeding. If there wasn't a heater in the tub you've also got to wonder if things like salinity were maintained. Also without lighting you'll have die off in a tub of live rock.
