What would be the best way to cycle a 46 gallon tank?

well you can use uncured LR or you can use uncooked raw shrimp. These are 2 that I've used.

Yipes... monitor your Ammonia closely.. Don't let it go above 1ppm
*uncured (or shipped to you) live rock
*ghost feeding tank (raw shrimp pieces, etc.)

That's exactly what it does...
Die off produces Ammonia, which is what starts off your cycle.

Get some LS and LR and then you just have to wait.... I no its very hard to wait....

get your cured live rock, and throw in an uncooked shrimp tail and test your water every other other day, after a 3 week wait.

I would just get some uncured LR to put in it, thats how I cycled mine.

You can cycle either way, but be sure to have water ready for changes and try to keep the ammonia below 1ppm. Even the bacteria starts to die at 1ppm.
