The story:
150 gal reef build 5x2x2 finished filled w/ ro/di water 100-150lbs of LR 5gal bucket of fine crushed coral looks a lot like the reef aggregate that out there might be all came from a running system, was unable to take any of the water….
Was going to use skimmer poo to push the cycle but was advised not to so
I ended up with a pice of raw tuna from the health food store cut a pice off about 2x2
put it in a small plastic bowl with lots of holes for flow and easy to take out of I need put it in the tank
the question;
will this be enough to get the cycle going? Will tuna work? Or should I go find shrimp?
Never cycled a tank this way before…so I wanted to try it to have frist hand experance using fresh food…
Thoughts and feedback are welcome

Just get an uncooked cocktail shrimp. No use wasting good tuna!!!! Besides I am not sure if tuna is an oily fish but if it is best to leave it out me thinks.

Oh and I would get rid of the crushed coral and use an aragonite finer sand with a cup or two of some sand from an established tank

Definitely get rid of the crushed coral. The tank I bought came with about 20lbs of crushed and I've been picking it out little by little, I just don't like the look of it and it makes it a little hard for my sand sifters to do their job
