Cycling New QT

I got rid of my 10 gallon QT and set up my 29 gallon tank as my new QT. I filled it with 15 gallons of water from my DT and the balance with RO water. There is a 5 pound piece of LR in there. After a week I checked my levels and these are the numbers
ammonia=0
PH=8.2
SG=1.025
nitrite=0
nitrate=5ppm
Does this mean my tank is cycled? I want to keep a small fish in the tank so it can remain cycled. Am I ready to add a fish yet?

If I recall you did have some nitrates in your DT so that might be why you are showing a sign of nitrates in the QT. Was that LR from your DT?
If that tank is going to be your QT the LR will be useless. The LR will not survive while medicating.

It was just an inexpensive piece I got to help the cycling. I will take it out when I need to medicate.
Should I wait a while to see if I get an ammonia spike.

To guarantee that you had a cycle you should see ammonia or nitrite. The only way that you could have avoided a cycle is to do everything you have already done plus add some sand from your DT.

Heard a rumor that you were starting a frag tank. Have you decided to set up a QT instead?
You've been talking to my buddy. I still want to set up a frag tank. That's my project for the last week of Dec that my husband and I have off work together. There was a pretty decent thread on here somewhere about building one. I'm getting just a little obsessed.
