it will be 2 weeks tomorrow now.
its a 20 gallon.
well. over the past week it was around 1.0-2.0 ( it was between the two)
then it went down to .50 around 2 days ago.
then, i checked earlier today and it was .25
i did a top off like 3-4 days ago but i don't think it would cause that big of a drop.
and no nitrite. its been 0 since day one.
what now?

am i close to then end. i expected at least another 2 weeks.

This should not have a role in starting the cycle of nitrification unless he is using the die off as an introduction of organics

Hey there! 1st your tank will not cycle without ammonia to start that buy some cheap hardy fish like Damsels, clown, groupers. Just don't over feed or over populate. During the cycling try not to change the water if you have to keep it small less than 20%. Keep a close eye on that Ammonia it will spike rather quickly and you will probably have to change some water to keep the stress rather low. Here's a decent website for ya..It starts with day one and so on.

yah, don't add fish. (it will work, but then your stuck with a damsel or burn the gills of whatever you add if they survive, alot of times other fihs will develop ich too) you can ghost feed a couple of pellets every few days to get your ammonia started.

no need for words this thread about covers it all
It does, but a dead, raw shrimp will work as well as damsel fish......easier on the fish and you don't have to worry about getting the little S.O.B.s out.
