cycling tank question

i had the saltwater,live sand and live rock in for a couple days. put in a cocktail shrimp from grocery store to get the good bacteria working. is there a time limit on keeping the shrimp in the tank? its got this cloud looking coating over the whole shrimp. i dont know if i should leave it in or take it out. i put the shrimp in sat it is now weds.

Once you get a good ammonia spike you can take it out. The coating around it is normal.... it's decomposeing.

I left mine in the tank. It will be gone in about a week and a half depending on how many hitch hikers you have on your LR.

whew, im glad its ok. i looked in there and got scared the shrimp looked like a thing from aliensl lol thanks for the info ill keep checking for the ammonia spike.

Yeah they look pretty nasty- a big slimy coating.
In a few days you will start to see some hitchhikers eating it. Pods are good.
