cycling with cooked shrimp?

i am trying to re-cycle my tank. the only shrimp i could get from the store was precooked. will it work ok? i mean its still dead and will still decay wont it? already put it in, just checking to see if it will work ok.

The question here is HOW WAS IT COOKED?? And in what??? Were there any spices,oil,or preservitives(sp?)or any other chemicals or additives???? I would not try this.....

its boiled. its not like it was cooked to eat or something. it was just boiled in water. well it is working, my ammonia is on the rise already and its only been in the tank for bout 4 hours. thanks for the help everyone.
 
im not an expert or anything and i dont know much about cooking, however i know with some foods they create oils from within, for instance bacon and some other types of fish(i think like cod or something) acutally producess oil as it cooks, now about it being boiled i think its sorta the same thing, becuause im thinking when a hot dog is cookied if u look at the water theres oils floating around at the top too

I used cooked shrimp in my tank to cycle it(the pre-packaged shrimp cocktail to go stuff). It worked fine as far as producing ammonia and cycling the tank. I think Salty has a point though of what may be in cooked shrimp. If I were to do it again, I would use raw shrimp. After all, it's not cooked in the ocean.
