Cycling with LR

I turned the lights on in my system for about 7hrs a day. This was primarily because I had some coral hitchhikers that needed light. If you leave them off you wont have as bad a problem with algae as if they were on though. IMO the point of my tank is to look at it so I turned on the lights and really enjoyed watching the various life forms come out of the rocks.
Glass was covered in green algae after the cycle but my LMB and turbos made short work of it. Just do whatever you feel is best. Its your tank.

I'm new at this, but I have my tank cycling right now and I don't know if it is coincidence or not, but I noticed more hitchhikers coming out when the lights are out (so I've been leaving the lights off). Is this a coincidence?
