nitrites are at 0. The fish have been in the tank for 24 hrs, doesn't have anything to do with the cycling.

Nitrites 0...... fish in the tank for 24 hrs.... not sure I understand the question, but the tank hasn't started to cycle yet. Do you have LR and LS? Why use a fish to cycle with? You can use a frozen cocktail shrimp or feed the tank just like there were fish in it to kick off the cycle.

I am not sure what you mean but amonia will be the first to show up then nitrites then nitrates and all should be at 0
