Hi-
One LFS I go to sells "damaged corals" for five bucks. They have a small tank set up with these damaged corals. Most of which, seem to be soft corals and coral frags. Does it seem wise to purchase these?
Thanks.

I bought a damaged pagoda cup coral...Ive had it for almost two years now. Its doing fine. Just looks freaky. Its like adopting a dog with 3 legs. :) And for 5 bucks how can you go wrong.
Have a great day.

I guess it all depends on how badly "damaged" they are.
I have seen some soft corals like colts and leathers recover from minor damage like a small tear or a small area of bleaching.
Hard corals seem to have a little more difficult time recovering.
For 5 bucks if the coral is not too far gone I think I would give it a try. I would use a seperate tank though and not the main tank.

hey-
i think i know that store-
'aquarium center' in md?
i was planning a visit after work today :D
i got a 'free' tigertail cuke on one of those damaged corals-
worth the purchase as long as it looks salvagable-
i wouldn't go buying one that has a lot of mucus developing though...
