Damsel changing colors...HELP

I've been running my 75G aquarium for 10 months now with just LR, LS and some turbo snails along with a few scarlet hermits. I finally got my first fish 2 days ago, a convict damsel. It's black and white like a zebra, with a black stripe on it's tailfin. It's head and and the top portion of the second white stripe has turned green. Anyone know what's up with this or seen this before? My ammonia detector shows normal. I do not use RO water yet. Thanks

Color largely depends on two things:
1) Food - you want to feed food that is high quality and has the variety the fish needs to keep good health and coloration. What are you feeding the Damsel?
2) Environmental - some fish change their color depending on their environment. For instance my Yellow-tail Blue Damsel is almost completely white (transparent) after dark. When the light first come on she looks like a very sick fish, but after a few minutes, all is well. There may be other environmental factors like this that will cause a fish to change colors - camouflage to match surroundings, stress, etc. Is the color change consistent with any environmental factors (time of day, etc)?

not all damsels stay the same color as adults some do change coloring as they mature this could very well be the case

I am feeding the damsel Wardley Total Color Marine gourmet flake blend. I have not noticed a change in the green color yet....until now. I am replumbing my sump (that never worked in the first place due to leaks). My setup hasn't been level so I drained my whole aquarium, removed all live rocks, lifted my stand, applied shims and filled her back up. I used about 70% of the original water.
Anyway,
now the damsel is white and light gray instead of black. WOW! He looks so sick, but I see from your replies that he may be okay. The water is very murky and I wish I had a QT tank setup. I hope he pulls through.
Thanks for the letting me know about their camo and cameleon like abilities.
