damsel digging a hole

I have a blue yellowtail damsel that is digging a hole in the DSB under a rock from both sides so that there is almost a tunnel underneath. I have 100+ lbs of LR so it's not as if there isn't enough hiding places. He/she does hang out there at night now. Anyone seen this behavior? My LFS said it sounded like spawning behavior but had not heard of damsels doing this. Also, this is the only damsel in the tank. :notsure:

My Yellowtail is doing the same thing. And its the only one in the tank. I think it's just making itself a little home to its own liking. Just my 2 cents worth, since I just got into saltwater.

Speaking of LFS's don't know nothing, it reminds me of a funny story. I was in a ***** when I first started into this hobby, the woman in there (about 55-60 YO) told me that she had been doing salt water for about 30+ years. I told her that wanted the blue chromis in this one tank. I'll admit, it was'nt a blue chromis, it was an Electric blue Damsle (Honest newbie mistake). But she told me, that there were no such thing as a blue chromis. LOL
I just laughed at her. I just thought that was crazy, that she said she had been in this hobby so long, but never heard of a blue chromis. :notsure:

my javanese did that... only on one side, then i did it to the otehr and my false perc took that side of the rock.... then i spun the rock so i could see a feather duster better and it caused a tunnel... apparently the damsel didnt like it and pushed some sand to the tunnel so it wasnt a tunnel anymore... he really messed up my sand in one corner

I had a damsel doing the same thing. She would dig so much sand it would cover all of my LR. The live rock was sitting on the glass bottom in a 3" sand bed. I recently took her back to the LFS after having her/him for over 3 years. They are very territorial, and they love to make homes in sand beds under rocks.
