Damsels and Clowns????

I was just wondering whether or not you would recommend adding a pair of clowns to a 40 gallon tank w/ 2 (3) stripe damsels and a Coral Beauty. Suppossedly the damsels are suppossed to be agressive but in my tank they are terrified of the Coral Beauty (Don't ask me why.) I'll probably want to add perculas but I havn't made that decision yet. So does anyone have any experience or stories about keeping the two together? Thanx in advance!

I'm planning to keep few clownfish with my stripped (zebra looking) damsel once I finish setting up my reef tank. I think you will be fine.

That should not be a problem, but after that you will probably be full up. I know you said that the damsels are not aggressive, but you might want to watch them when you add the clowns. Good Luck

How old are the damsels? They usually don't show their true colors until adulthood, you may be fine but the adult 3 stripe can pick on a more passive fish. I have a couple of Clark's clowns, they will get a little bigger than the Perc (and the damsel) and I think they may hold their own a little better. Good luck...

No problem - since your putting them in as a pair they will fight for each other and keep the damsels in check. Damsels fight individually so they will always be one short of the pair.
Besides its fun to watch the damsels try to harrass the clowns - one will slip away and the damsel will attempt to intimidate it and the other clown will clover his back!!! :)

I have a tomato clown that I just added a few days ago to my 4 assorted damsels. They all get along well. The clown was very sad the first couple of days and wouldn't eat and kept looking at the background taped to the back of the tank like he wanted to fiqure out how to sit in the anaemne (I know I spelled that all wrong but I think ya'll will get the point)He has finially started eating and claiming some spots as his. So far I've seen a tad bit of.. that's my spot - scram.. but nothing else..
