Damsels attacking Clownfish.

Im new to this place, and I havent really looked around too much, so if this has been posted and in some other thread that stays at the top, i appologize.
I have had this 32 gallon tank for nearly 6 years, and finally my old fish died in it. Damsels out lasted everything and no joke through 2 moves, and 7 years. I dont know how.
So i went out and got 2 small damsels, got my system back into tip top shape about two months ago. Now, I went out and got a clown fish thinking, okay, it might not be THAT long to where they will pick it to pieces. Now, they are constantly doing what those nasty fish do, and chasing the clown around all day long. Ive turned the light off and they seem to have stopped.
What can I do? And If these things kill this clownfish, Im not gonna lie, It makes me want to get a Trigger thats aggressive, and take these little pests out for good! lol but I know my tank is far too small for one trigger.

Well, clownfish are in the damsel family, Pomacentridae, so it isn't too much of a surprise that damsels are attacking new-to-the-tank damsels... What species of damsels were already in there? And what type of clownfish did you buy?
Unfortunately I don't think the attacks will stop anytime soon. My suggestion, is basically the opposite of what you might think, but is to add more damsels to the tank. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 more
damsels. Add different types, different colors, etc. Try to stay away from the damsels that get really big (Domino's/Three Stripes). What you're basically doing is hyper-stocking the tank. The fish will generally calm down with aggression towards each other, as well, there's just no real point. Once they chase a fish out of "their" spot, another is right back in there. The drawback is that you really only can have damsels. But, with how bright/colorful and active these fish are, the tank should actually still look nice.
