some of them are ok...
i've got a black and white striped one that is pretty cool, but i just took my two yellow tail/blue dams back, because they are so friggin aggressive and territorial, you cant put anything else in with them. sometimes you luck out and get one that is not so aggressive, but the odds of that are quite minimal.

Chromis are in the damsel family (damselidae), but so are clowns. Chromis are schooling fish and are actually very peaceful (except for bickering among themselves).
Most other damsels, on the other hand, are aggressive and extremely territorial. Also, they grow quickly and are fearless.

Just all depends on what kind of tank you want. Most Damsels are very aggressive as said but are very pretty and active and do very well in agressive and semi agressive tanks, very hardy and eat anything. They just have a bad rap because alot of newbies use them to cycle tanks or buy them cause they are small and cheap and then when they find out that they cant have other peacefull fish in their too small tanks then they hate the damsels.

I have a striped damsel I want out of my tank. He was ok until I got a six line wrasse and he chased him from one end of the tank to the other. After a few days he stoped but he still has to go b/c he will prolly do it to every new fish I put in the tank. Unless of course I put a Huma Huma in with him.

I have the three stripe and 2 blue damsels. The three stripe is the smallest in the tank and is the meanest. He starts all the fights, bad fishie.
The larger of the blue is kinda mean too, the smaller just tries to avoid fights. However I have seen him lead the other two to each other and cause a chase. Yep I wanna get them out...they don't play nice. Had them for about a year or so too, so very territorial. They think they own the place.

I personally like the damesl family myself, one being they are cheap to buy and the other is their colors and movement. I would like to know if you were to keep only one of each color will they still be as aggressive?
Just curious....

the color pattern isnt important to them. my 3-stripe HAD a domino buddy (my first two fish AFTER tank cycled)... lets just say stripes and dots together are a no-no in fish as well as fashion.
