Damsels

why does everybody not like damsels so much? is it just b/c they are hard to catch? i was thinking about buying a blue yellow tail damsel to put in my tank to help it cycle. and i wanted to know everybodys thoughts on it. and i plan on leaving it in my tank and not taking it out.

Not everyone hates damsels, but some people hate them because that they're VERY territorial. And i'm sure that there's more reasons that I don't know of. When you leave it in there by it's self it will get even more territorial when you put new fish in. I might be wrong. It's really up to you if you want to have the fish in there, I mean it's your tank lol.

go to the supermarket. Buy 1 raw uncooked shrimp. Toss it in the tank for a day or two and take it out. there you go your cycle will be started

What Freeborder is talking about is called ghost feeding. Basically, your adding ammonia to the water, which causes the Nitrification bacteria to multiply.

I had 2 damsels in my tank. Everytime I tried to do work the one would attack me biting very hard. In order to catch him I had to take apart my whole tank. I still have 1 in my tank but he hides whenever I am doing work. The other 1 is living in my hubbys tank with the yellow tailed blue damsel, but now he runs when I work in his tank...lol

Thats not called ghost feeding. Ghost feeding is when you put fish food in your tank pretending like you have a fish in there to feed.
