This morning I noticed a dark patch on one side of my maroon clown... he is active and eating well... Should I do anything??

This happened to my Blonde Naso Tang. I treated it right a way with a copper treatment, and a medicine called "life bearer"This disease went on my Naso twice. Got rid of em both times.

Wait!!!! before you copper, do you have liverock or inverts in your tank. Copper will kill inverts. Once you have coppered your tank, you can never add inverts. If you have a QT that would be best. That way, you can treat him with copper and you don't have to treat anyone else. Just in case you didn't know.

first, there is a disease called clownfish disease. it is caused by a small ciciated protozoan that is invisable to the

eye. it is a parasite of the gills and skin. this parasite mulitplies rapidly and can cause mortality in a short period of time. the symptoms are body lesions, excessive slime secretion and increased respiration. Treatments containg formalin or malachite green are recommended. Avoid medications with copper because it has no affect on it.
Black ich looks similar to regular ich with the exception that it is black instead of white. this doesn't usually occure in clownfish and is most common in tangs and angels.
I wouldn't suspect clownfish disease either unless the other symptoms listed are presant. Could be an unjury which should be treated with an antibiotic. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

It looks like a discoloration of the skin to me... in other words the dark part(s) don't appear to stand out from the skin. He is a gold banded Maroon and the front band has a little more darkness on it than this morning. I would say that the color is black, but it is not real dark where it goes over the gold band. He is still active and eating well, but he seems to favor the fin on the other side when he swims...

He likes to swim into my powerhead and get blown across the tank.. does it ALL the time.. should I point the powerhead a little up so it doesnt blow straight across the tank maybe?
Hey thanks a bunch for your help Trey! I really appreciate you helping me out... Is there anything I should be looking out for?
