Dead Anemone?

How can you tell if an Anemone is dead? I have a Condi that "balled-up" after trying to climb the glass side of the tank. It had been very active until then. Been about 2 days like this, now. Any ideas?

It is normal for anenomes to do this. Chondys do it dramatically, they can shrink up to 1/3 of thair actual size.
They do this to release water and flush themselves out. It's their way of removing the waste left over from eating krill or brine shrimp 2 days before.
If you suspect your anenome is sick, i recommend increasing the light around it and relocating it to a secure part of the tank. But once an anenome starts to die, they rarely recover as ther motabolism is extremely low.
HTH.
btw,
tell us about the tank and lighting, are your levels all good? trates/trites?

this is also a good way to tell if they are dying or not. touch their tentacles to see if they are sticky, if they are then it is alright, however if they are not the chances of them being sick is pretty high. I've lost three condi's and this is the way that i could tell if they were dying...usually died a couple of days later. Good Luck

sometimes though, if they are evacuating, they will retract their stinging cells and not be sticky, but that is a good rule of thumb.
