Dead clown?

my order arrived from this site. one clown looks dead. the other looks great. the one who looks dead hasn't moved at all the other clown keeps waving his tail at it and it won't move. How can i tell if it is DEAD!

no offense...but...how on earth can you NOT KNOW if somethign is dead or not????

It says on the acclimation instructions that a fish may appear dead but go ahead and acclimate it because it could just be in shock.

I think this causes confusion in some fish keepers. But yeah that fish is toast. Sorry get your money back or credit.

Since this is my first exp. with fish i wanted to make sure if it was dead or just in shock! thanks for your replies! I'm a nurse I KNOW DEAD!

LOL, yeah being a nurse doesn't help much with fish, I'm getting this image of a nurse taking a fishes pulse

You wont know the difference until you see one in shock to compare it to. Sometimes they really seem dead. At the warehouse we always started acclimation unless they weren't in one piece or had obvious rigor mortis. We took it to the point of about 15 minutes after we added our water to their bag to even try to decide. I've put 500 chromis in a tank that all just sank to the bottom all curled up and not breathing and came in the next day and they've looked great.
