Dead Devils Hand question

Well I bought a devils hand a couple of weeks ago. It started to slump a couple of days after I got it. I was told this was normal and that they will also shed. The man at the LFS told me to put it in a better spot where the flow was better. When I came home I did that and it just fell apart Now I am wondering if it is going to destroy everything in my tank. It left a powdery substance when I was removing it. Any help on this would be a relief. Thank you.

I had a Kenja Tree coral that fell apart. Had no affect on my other corals. I ran carbon to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply. My tank has been up and running since September '03. My water is just fine. Everything else seems to be happy. I went to move it to a better location with more water movement and it just fell apart. I have no idea why or what happened wrong. Everything else in my tank is doing really well though. I was worried that the powdery dust left behind would irritate or kill something in my tank but that hasn't happened at all...thank goodness!
