dead polyps

i have some polyps that died on a piece of my live rock and i just turned it over so you cant see the dead polyps if i just leave them there will i hurt my tank or should it be ok

How many polyps was it? Can you scrape them off of the rock as much as possible?

there is a bunch like 60 of them i tried scraping some off have any good ideas of what i should use to scrape them off

hard plastic brush like for cleaning your toilet or drinking glass. (make sure its new) and dont do it in your tank.
Or you can scrape them off with a knife as much as possible out of the tank

yeah i tried a knife and it didnt work out to weill but ill try the scrub brush

Just out of curiosity how did they die? Are you 100% certain they died because if not they should still come back because the polyps might have died but their seed layer is still there unless that died too

my nitrate levels were super high and i think thats what killed them but most were turning black and they are starting to decay and break off.
