I had a 58g tank with 1 sfe 1 blue hippo 1 yellow tang 1 niger trig 1 white spotted grouper 1 javanese damsel all 3-5 inch also two other smaller damsels. I moved all fish into a 150g 6 days ago. On day 6 my sfe was laying at the bottom of tank not moving I pulled him out and qt him with in 3 hours he was dead. All water parameters are in check and all other fish are fat and happy. The only reason I can think of for the death of this fish is over eating. Could this happen? I have read that you should only feed an eel 1-2 times a week but mine ate 1-2 times a day.

Overfeeding can cause problems in these fish. Impactions can occur where undigested food actually rots in the belly and causes secondary infections. Feeding 2-3 times a week is fine. What were you offering the eel? Most do very well on a mixed diet of chopped shrimp, scallop, squid and clam. Silversides are okay as is forzen krill on an occasional basis.

Any chance any of the food may have been contaminated; thinking of the tilapia.Tough to say really, but avoid overfeeding in any event.
