Dead snail

This morning i found a Funnel Snail on its side in front of some LR... I thought it was odd so i picked him up and put him back on his side and went to work..
I thought it was weird, how did he get on his side? He's been in there a week and has spent 90% of his time on the Rocks and Glass... Next to his body i could see his tracks in the sand..
I have no idea how he died, but anyway i have some scarlet hermits should i just leave the snail in there so they can eventually take his shell? Or should i take the shell out??
If i leave the shell in should i remove the dead snails body? and How?

I'm pretty certain that when you get home from work there will be only an empty shell. Hermits had a good lunch. :D

some snails cant right themselves. he also may have just died. i'd take him out unless the hermits are all over him just to prevent the ammo from a dead creature. just my .02...
