Deadly bacteria that thrives in hyposalinity?

Hi:)
While I was at a LFS I got into a discussion with one of the "knowledgable"
people who work there about a deadly bacteria that thrives in hyposalinity.
The person said that some saltwater aquarium expert wrote an article about
saltwater fish being placed into a hyposalinity tank for prolonged periods and
this bacteria showing up and killing everthing.
Has anyone on this forum heard anything about this or is this some sort of
salwater aquarium fish urban legend?
Thanks

No, I haven't really heard of that, but, yes, of course, bacteria an live in hypo conditions. Hypo is only effective at killing ich. Fish should not be left in hypo conditions indefinately. They probably got sick and died becaue of that.
