Deal too good to be true?

I have found some really reasonably priced corals at a large chain pet store (mostly zoos and mushrooms). Their tanks are pretty bad and I'm sure they don't have proper lighting (ie corals don't look great). I won't buy fish there because of previous problems but I was wondering if coral would do better if I took them out of the bad conditions placed them in the presumably better conditions in my tank. Would I still worry about introducing diseases, etc? I haven't heard much about qt-ing corals. Thanks!

Most the time you qt coral so you don't get any unwanted guest in your tank.Depends on if you trust the place and you already say they don't take care of their tanks.Sometimes a RO dips will send alot of stuff running .

You can certainly get parasites and other bad things from corals. I would not spend $25-$30 on a coral that is not taken care of and in poor health that would costs $35-$40 from somewhere that does take care of their corals. I guess I have a problem with supporting(giving $$) to shops that do not take care of their animals. Also I would not take a chance on saving a few dollars to possibly lose all my $$ on a coral dying and you already said the corals do not look good. But if you see something you really like and your going to save a ton of $$ I would have to think about it because it is always nice to take an animal from poor conditions and watch it thrive under the proper conditions. I know I just contradicted myself but it is the double edged sword situation. Do you save the coral and give $$ to a shop that does not take care of their stuff or do you try to save the coral for the sake of the coral. I guess you can be the only one that makes that desicion. Good luck and hopefully they will stop carrying corals or start to take care of them.
