what do you all do when you need to work on your tank when you have poisionous fish in there?
i have a lion and a foxface, but need to rearrange some of my rockwork and i'm kind of scared to do so. i've put my hands in before, but only if i see the two...but i'm worried one time they will charge at me.
will gloves help?
any suggestions?
how do you make sure you wont get hurt by one of these guys?

IMO, just go for it. I know that for lions, you have to apply pressure to the spines to be stung. My lion brushes against my arm all the time and sometimes I have to push him away while trying to feed the scorpionfish...if you resist the urge to jerk when touched you'll be fine. Besides, the worst that can happen is some pain and swelling. Good luck!

SOME pain and swelling? Dude....
and the WORST that could happen is that you have a violent allergic reaction to the poison, go into shock...and DIE.
But I don't mean to scare you - if we're going to keep dangerous fish, we need to accept risks.
Honestly, it's best if you just know where your poisonous fish are - as much as possible - when you're working in your tank. It does take a bit of an impact to be poisoned - the spines have to penetrate your skin.
SSG is absolutely right - if you can learn to resist the urge to jerk your hands when something brushes up against you, you'll be fine.
Many people have been stung, and everyone I know who's been there has survived (and in almost EVERY case, it happened b/c the aquarist wasn't looking at where their hands were). Hurts like the DICKENS, but it's not the end of the world

If you ever get stung, hold your hand under running water as HOT as you can stand it for a good 15 minutes - then get yourself to the ER with your hand in a bucket of it. They'll give u antibiotics and something for the pain/swelling. There's worse things in salt water than poisonous fish.

I had lots of venomous fish, never got stung. Lions arent really a threat, they are slow swimmers. Its take some pressure for a lion spine to stick u and sting you, you will not die from the sting. NOW if we were talking about blue ring octos then thats a WHOLE different story.

I have ordered two foxfaces and am awaiting their arrival. Now I have become nervous about cleaning the tank. I did order them from saltwaterfish.com and the description does say "poisonous" and "deadly".

i went to my local hardware store and picked up a pair of really long tongs with suction cups on the end( its all metal) and on the handle there is a trigger like sqeeze thing that inables you to squeeze and the tongs close so you can pick things up( i can easily pick up a rock)
if you want pics i can post them

the most severe cases of venomous fish stings is to those with allergies to be stings if you are allergic to bees then you are more sensitive to the sting of a venomous fish .then yes to some it can be fatal.use protective gloves whenever reaching into your tank if you have this spacific allergy.thses are called aggressive tanks for a reason always use caution. I kee a very larg lion a large scat and a foxface in my agressive tank these are the fish i fear the least all 3 highly venomous.I fear my lunear wrasse and my niger triger these buggers bite and bite hard.little terrors i tell ya.I normaly keep a net in one hand to ward away the biters.ok and this may seam weird to some people but im sure im not the only one here that accually talks to their fish.but at times they do seam to pay attention i will talk to my lion before reaching into the tank and state go to the other side i need this end of the tank and oddly enough he moves to the side I directed him to.my spiney boxfish will seam to do the same he accually comes when i call him at times.have faith in your own abilities to use common sense .
