Death by Eating??

I have heard that if you feed a snowflake eel too many silversides it can die? Is this true? Thanks

Maybe that's where the phrase gut rot came from? I'm curious as well.

they can be impressively gluttonous... maybe they don't stop and their stomachs explode...

Thats what I was thinking, because I fed mine 3 silversides, and it kept going for more

eels wont stop eating unless you stop feeding.

in a rare case..the owner should know when to stop feeding.

how large is your eel, and the silversides you are feeding it?

My snow flake never ate more than his fill of food . He would only snag on piece of shrimp and drag it in the rocks and swallow it . then pop back out and watch the other fish going to town . I dont think you could over feed it .

They can be glutenous. They should be fed twice a week until they are full though. Eeels will eat what they can. I do not think that they will eat until they die.

the only fish that I have seen eat to excess are lions and groupers

My eel is about 13" long. I feed him silversides about 1" long, but I cut off the heads and tails.
