Death By Sand!!!!

I have one guy telling me that I have my tank set up wrong. That if you put over a 1/2 an inch of sand in your tank, without a plenum, that everything in your tank will die. That since my sand bed is about 2 1/2 inches deep (at the deepest parts) that all my fish will die. It doesnt matter to him that I have 2 sand sifting sea stars and 40 nassarius snails. Everything in my tank is doomed because my sand bed is over 1/2 an inch deep. This the guy that owns the only local LFS within 25 miles also. He came to drop off my new light. What is the deal here?

Hes Full of crap , alot of people recomend DSB , the only thing that could validate his case is if it becomes a Nitrate trap , but if it is live sand and you have to sand sifting stars , and 40 nas snails , that shouldnt be a problem. Sand sifting stars keep your sand hella clean

I have a 3" sandbed with some areas as deep as 4" and my water has been fine since day 1.
