deep sand?

I added sand this weekend and was wondering if it was enough. I have 2-4 inches, probably an average of 2-1/2 to 3.
Is this enough? I have heard you need 4 inches.

If you are wanting a DSB for nitrate reducing, then yes you need at LEAST 4" some recomend 5-6".

That is a lot of sand. What if you have 4 inches in you fuge and sump?

this will most likely stir up some dust but, i just read an article in usa marine and reef (anual magazine) that said the nitrogen process takes place in the upper 2 inches of the sand bed and the rest is basically overkill.
you should pick up the magazine and read that article.
