I was wondering. I keep seeing the term 'mature tank' and I would like to open up a discussion on it quickly.
Whenever I see 'mature tank' it is coupled with balanced chemicals, stable water conditions - stable Ca, Alk & pH etc.. It has led to to believe that these things make up the deifinition of a mature tank. I'm sure I missed things like pod population, and diversity of organisms, but what else defines a mature tank? I'm sure there's other little things that create a mature scenario - ie: having gone through certain algae outbreaks and other things I have yet to 'discover'.
The reason I ask is that water chemistry and diversity seems to be more of a tank husbandry and good planning. I feel I've done these things. I have stable water param.s I have lots of pods, and a good cleanup crew. But I'm still holding off on getting SPSs and clams because in terms of time, my tank is still 'immature'.
Can anybody help me with this concept. Am I correct or am I missing something?
Thanx
