Well I took advantage of the recent sale here on SWF and got an itty-bitty Kuda. (Its been years since I've had a pony and I'd forgotten how cool they are)... However, since I already have two tanks, I really don't want to setup a third dedicated tank, so I made some adjustments to my reef and after some QT time, the Kuda is in the reef. I had concerns about him gettting blown around, but this little rough-tough put those to bed by riding the jets like a water slide. He purposely swims up in front of the sump return head (on an octopus timer thing) and waits for the flow and rides it down and across the tank (I can almost hear him yell "YAHOO!")
Now here is where things got really interesting. I couldn't find him this morning....and called home from work around noon and the kids couldn't find him.....and after searching frantically upon return from work, still couldn't find him....little guy like that can get lost in that big 120gal tank... So as a last act I figured I'd check the filter and sump.....and there he was, laying in the floss where the overflow dumps into my sump
..I almost cried but then I saw him flip his tail at me! I guess the flowing water from the down pipe was enough to keep him going for however long that dumb-dumb was stuck down there! So he was quickly dumped back into the tank where he proceeded to ride his water slide, eat some shrimp and go perch on his sea fan (probably to take a nap after hanging out under a shower all day!!!)
He has eaten twice now since his ordeal and seems to be fine...I have since modified my overflow to include some window screen material to keep him out of the damned filter system!
....and people think these guys are delicate????
