I know that you upgraded your lighting on your 14 Biocube and was wondering what kind of light you upgraded to and the cost? (Brand, etc..) Also... if I get the same light, would I need to get a chiller or anything else?
I am asking because I have the same tank and am wanting to get an anemone for my percula because (s)he was already hosting it in the LFS and I would LOVE to be able to go back and get one for him/her, if not the same one, then another BTA.
Or, if the cost is "too" much, can you recommend another light that I can upgrade to that would be sufficient for the BTA?
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

BTW... I saw that there is a Viper Clamp Lamp available that is described as a "sleek, clamp-on Metal Halide lighting system for simple "plug and play" installation, High output light fixtures bracket-mount onto virtually any aquarium or nano reef tank. Hammertone reflector and 3 separate adjustment knobs direct intense lighting exactly where you need it most. Includes 14000 K HQI double ended lamp and remote ballast.
6 3/4" x 6 1/4" x 6 1/2" high
70w is advertised at 159.99
Would this be sufficient?

Yes, the 2k vipers will be enough light for an anemone, but be aware that those lights don't have a fan on them so they get really hot and can burn you if you touch it. A lot of people also had problems with the arm breaking and the bulb burning out. I have the 70w Sunpod by Current USA, Its a great fixture that fits right on top. It has a built in fan and has moonlights. I paid about $220 for mine. Since the tank is an open top, you wont need a chiller. My tank stays around 79 all day.

I will look into the 70w Sunpod. My tank is not an open top.... it has the hood on it with the stock lighting (Biocube 14) Would I need to have a new hood built onto it with the light for this to work? I cannot leave my top open because I have a purple firefish in there that will probably jump out! :jumping:
How do you do yours?

The only way that you can still have the hood is to either buy a do it yourself kit to add a metal halide to your hood or build a new one by your self. Both the sunpod and the viper require you to have an open top. If you go with an open top you can make a cover out of egg crate so your fish don't jump out.
