As you can tell by my title today was a very derpresing day for me. First of all let me just say that I am a 13 year old boy so raising money for my fish tank is already hard enough...well anyways yesterday as a special treat I got to go to a very nice LFS. There the most amazing fish caught my attention......a blue spotted jawfish. It was the most gorgeous and neat fish i have ever seen......to bad the price tag was 80 bucks. Well anyway I purchased the fish and brought him home. I wake up this morning to find him missing so I just figure he has found a little spot to start burrowing and constructing his new home. The day goes on and he is still missing.....finally I check around the floor to see if he had leaped out of the smallest opening tank and there he was shriveled up under my dresser........I was so mad and sad that I called the pet store and the guy there that sold him to me is actually gonna replace him for free! He is so nice!!! Can you believe the pet store is acually going to replace an 80dollar fish for free.....he is going to order another one and hopefully by the weekend I will have him in my tank but I am going to definetly try and seal up those spaces so the next one doesn't play Houdini on me and vanish...anyone have any suggestions on how to fill up the spaces and some success sories about blue spotted jawfish would be nice....Thx ~RYAN~

Ryan, I felt so sorry for you while reading your story. I felt like reaching into my pocket and buy you another one. But I am glad your LFS is VERY nice to replace it. PLEASE make sure there is no escape for the fish this time. If it happens again I'd reach into my tool box and get my hammer. :D (just kidding)

I feel your pain. I am a 14 year old boy, and let me tell you that being one year older does not make it easier to raise fish money. I am planning to get a jawfish myself, but I now realize that I need to seal the tiny opening in the back of my fish tank.
PS: I just cracked up because last year I posted some junk on the off topic forum, and people thought I was a nutcase and must be older than 13, because 'the language was too advanced'... Ahhhh... good times... Anyway, glad your lfs will replace him. Mine sure wouldn't. I couldn't get them to replace a damsel if I wanted.

You need to give extra thanks tonight when you say your prayers....you must have the only nice LFS in the country. Sorry for your loss but glad they are replacing him for you.
You could have a piece of thin plexi-glass cut at Lowe's to fit back there, that would seal the holes and is not very expensive. HTH

Where did you get your fish? I would love to use that store as my main supply!! Wonderful news
I lost a clown the same way but haven't lost one that way since.
Make sure you keep the light off when you add it to the tank so the others don't scare him - it could've been running from an attacker.

Hey bud,
I'm glad too that your LFS kicks butt! Another method to cover space on the back of the tank is to go get some plastic screen (available at any home improvement place for cheap) and put that back there. This will keep the fish in and still allow for oxygen exchange. HTH
