do i just cut the part that is attached? how exact do i need to be? to reattach, should i put them in a cup with rubble and let them attach to piece in there? do i need super glue?

Yes, just cut it off as close to the rock as possible. Don't use superglue and use the cup like you mentioned to get them reattached.

Reef rock is pretty soft. If you have some nice porous reef rock get a xacto knife and try to cut the rock where it is attached. The you can superglue the rock pc. with the ric attached anywhere your want to.
If this is not possible cut the ric's base as close to the rock as possible. You will probably get a new one from some of the flesh that will be left over on the rock.
