One of my LFS's is selling a used 300 gal acrylic tank...it was the store owners home tank that he's selling cause he's moving--looks pretty sweet...I think he's asking like 5k for it though with the sump, stand, and all equip minus lights...not sure if that's what you're thinking or not. if so i can get you the store info...

LOL, I don't know...like I said, it's just my LFS--I don't work there. Why don't you try giving them a call if you're interested.

I already went and looked at that guy's tank. It's a piece of **** that's why it's been in the trading times for 8 months.
I could build a better tank with zip ties and ziplock bags. His wet dry is built inside the tank. And when I measured the tank it's really only about 230 gallons. Go look at it if you're near Clawson. You'll pee your pants from laughing so hard. He's never gonna sell that thing. You couldn't pay me to put that in my living room.

i was wondering why it was in the bargarintraderonline for sooooooooo long. if it actaully was a in-sump wet-dry, 300 gallons, good looking tank, that would be a very nice deal.

The wet dry was actually built inside the main tank, not a hang on, but in the main tank!!! My girlfriend and I walked in looked at it and turned around and walked out the door.
I went and looked at the other guy's tank in Ann Arbor that leigh was talking about and it was alright but the 5k price is a little steep. The stand is shot, but the tank itself I would be interested in if he had it cleaned up a bit so I could see how badly scratched the acrylic is. The halides/uv/ozoneizer/calcium reactor of his I would have no use for. I'm just looking for a big shark tank.

Did you ask him about price for the tank only? And as for the acrylic--I was looking at the 120 for a while and he said he'd buff it out before selling--i'm sure if you told him you want to see it buffed sooner rather than later he would. And the stand is shot? It needs the one door replaced, but I didn't realize it's shot? Haven't looked at it that close? Is it rotting? From what I saw there was nothing wrong with it that a door and a coat of paint wouldn't fix...btw--were you one of the 2 guys that came in together looking at it, hmm...i think it was yesterday around 3 or so...anyhow, if you were than I was the girl with the dog talking to Dave :)...

possibly,
I don't remember a girl with a dog though....
I did come with another guy my cousin, he has a 90 and a 40. But we were there at about 7:30 maybe a bit later. I didn't get off work til 5.
Sorry, I didn't mean the stand was shot, just looked like ****. I'd rather build myself a custom stand and canopy for $200 that's all.
The 120 seemed pretty nice. If I get his 300 I may consider selling my 180 and some extras if you're interested.

hmm...then it wasn't you i saw...and yes, that makes sense with the stand--i was just worried when you said shot that it was rotting--i was going to feel like an idiot for not noticing that :) that makes sense though building your own stand. is your 180 glass or acrylic? and with or without overflows? I might be interested...i was looking pretty seriously at the 120, but i'd rather have something 6' long, and he wants $1500 for it which i just don't have right now--i offered him a payment plan for it with no luck...oh well...he runs a pretty good shop though--sometimes the hardware is a bit overpriced, but i've had very good luck with critters from his store and he definitely takes the time to help customers out--he's even come over to my place before to give me a hand with stuff that i'm puzzled over...(that and my dog loves his dog ;) )

He just called me about an hour ago 2500 for tank and stand. For only 600 more I can get a 10' by 3' by 2' brand new.
I'm not going to buy it, because for $1528 plus shipping I can get a brand new one exact same size, without a stand though.
I would also like one with more width than what he has, I was planning on it being a shark/ray tank and 36'' or more width would have been a little bit better than 24''.
I will let you know if my 180 goes up for sale. It is glass and I have a cpr overflow with a

[hr]
for attaching to a powerhead so if the power goes out it will restart itself. If you would like it drilled I know a guy who has glass drills too.
Unfortunately it is not for sale now until I find something to replace it. When it is replaced I'll go probably around 600 for tank, oak stand and overflow box. There's only one scratch on the whole thing and you can only see if you're looking really closely. Before I got metal hallides you couldn't even see it. I just can't take it down yet until I have another tank to go reef. I'm not putting my corals in my 300 in the basement.
