I am trying to decide whether to go with a Diamond (Orange Spotted Goby) or else with a Yellow Headed Sleeper Goby or my 210-gal reef tank.
My understanding is that the Diamond Goby will do a little better job at cleaning the sand than the Yellow Headed Sleeper, and is quite comical to watch. But, I also hear they are more inclined to go carpet surfing the the Yellow Headed. I also read that the Diamond's tremendous digging escapades can undermine rock piles and cause an avalanche.
We had a Yellow Header Sleeper in my wife's 55-gallon awhile back and never had a problem with jumping. But that was a sample size of one, and not enough to make a judgement on.
So I thought I would ask for folks experioence here. Any feedback? Will the Yellow Headed do just as good a job cleaning the sand surface with less chance of a rock slide and jumping out of the tank?
Also, what is the recommendation on quarantiing gobies like these? Since they are primarily substrate feeders, do you just give them some frozen mysis shrimp while in the QT or do you go with a short quarantine of a couple day and then hope for the best?
Tnx!!
