Diatom Bloom - How long?

OK, got my 240g converted added salt, added Argonite, added about 30lbs of LR and a piece of shrimp over about 2-3 weeks.
Finally got my $ and added the last 275lbs of LR with lots of critters. Now after over 1 week I still see no Ammonia at nore Nitrites. But the diatoms are in full swing.
I adopted a baby Niger trigger, a Maroon Striped Clowm, and a chocolate chip starfish that should be able to take the cycle (not sure about the star).
My question is how long does this Diatom swing last? I have not turned on the skimmer as I figured it would be better to let it fully cycle first.
Thanks for any info on the algae cycles. I understand that I can expect a large green/hair algae bloom next.
Any other wonderful suprises?

diatom bloom should go away in a couple weeks... is a good sign your tank is cycling...
the only reason you should expect a green hair algae bloom is if you water source is high in phosphate...
