I built my canopy today for my new MH. the canopy is going on a 75gal reef tank. my question is, I made the canopy 1'11" high. I did alot of research. and everyone said to keep the MH, atleast 8" off the water, so I figured I whould keep them at 12" off. the other reason I made it so high was for tempature reason's. rather than spending 4-5 houndred dollors on a chiller in a couple of months I figured I whould just make it taller to add more room for air to circulate. is this alright, or do you think that I just created more problems for myself. the MH are 175w. thanks for any help :D

nearly 2' high? wow I'm running VHO's and left the back open for air circulation. Figure I can always add a fan if heat becomes a problem. Used 12x1 lumber and places lights about 8" above water.

yea, I didin't realize how high it actually was until I put it on the tank. it looks preety good though, it's is big as my stand <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />
