Did I just get the Devil?

Got a regular purple urchin. No problem. Small.

Then a friend who's getting out of the salt world gave me a large California Sea urchin. It's big. Size of fist almost. Purple with long white spikes. Beautiful.

Friend said it stings, but they all do, just use tongs to move out of the way.

Was just at LFS. Dude called them they devil. That they were aweful. Had one in live rock tank, and it stung him a few times that he threw it away.

Thoughts? It was free.

Basically u just have to be careful moving around it

They ate great for clearing algae.

Do I need to feed it something extra? It's big.
Do I have too much?

I have one medium purple urchin, two peppermint shrimp, 3 hermits and a small "20gal" CUC.
I'm getting brown algae on the walls now.
Only one 10lb live rock, but 40lbs of getting to be live rock soon.

Plus 6 fish. 2 clowns, 2 chromis, 2 yellow belly damsels.

My 75 gal tank is about 7-8weeks old.

Thoughts?

I would feed it some dried sea weed yes. Normally no but your tank is still new
