Did I screw up?

Hi, I am new here, just joining to ask a question about a recently purchased starfish.
I bought a spotted linckia, and I forgot rule number one of acclimation: do not expose to air! I was putting him into a drip tank and there was too much water to just dump him from the bag into the tank...so not even thinking about it I picked him out of the bag and stuck him into the drip tank which I had already filled with water from his bag. I know linckia can be very sensitive to oxygen exposure. He is still in the drip tank, how will I know if he is going to die? I don't want to put him in my tank if he is dying...
IS there any chance at all that I did not just sign his death certificate when I exposed him for that 1-2 seconds?

It is still moving around in the drip tank, but he keeps sticking his legs out of the water like he wants to get out of it...
I guess he will go in the tank when acclimation is finished since no one is responding, and I will hope for the best.

You can put it in the tank. What size tank and how long has it been going? I am one of the people that thinks that these stars should be left in the ocean. The survival rate for them is dismal.

WELCOME to the site!
I never had any luck with those starfish. They always lasted a few months then die. I never understood why folks say don't exposit it to air...I thought that applied to sponges. So if anyone knows the WHY...do tell.
