Die off

I received my saltwater fish rock today. They say it is pre-cured. I have it re-curing in a tub. It has been in for about 10 hours and I just check the amonia, Amonia reading was barely anything. How long before the die off starts?

Did you scrub the rock down before you put it in the tub? Precured rock takes about 1 week of additional curing if it is shipped. Check out this thread for a FAQ on live rock.

No I did not scrub it, just added it to the bucket. Nothing seems to squishy yet, mostly just loose see weed like stuff.
Doesnt smell bad yet.
Cure for about a week according to your post? How long before the spike?

Curing live rock is more accurately judged by looking at it and smelling it. You can test the water as well, but it is much more reliable to do the look/smell test.
