Cured live rock means the rock has been cycled and is ready to use. When rock is taken from the ocean and shipped many organims or whatever may be crawling on the rock die off, so when a dealer receives the rock, the rock must cycle much like your tank cycles. If you were to take that rock and put it directly in your tank you would get an ammonia spike from the die off. If you ever order live rock and they say it is cured you will have to cure it againbecause there will be more die off from shipping. In fact many people use live rock to cycle their tanks.

So in other words if your tank is new and you want it to cycle, get the non-cured stuff, and if you're adding rock to an established tank, get the pre-cured stuff??

Pretty much as long as your getting the cured stuff from a lfs, not ordering it where it has to be shipped and cycled again.
